Microwave Department - Teaching
Within IMT Atlantique Bretagne-Pays de la Loire and in collaboration with partner universities (Université de Bretagne Occidentale, Université de Bretagne Sud, etc.), teaching focuses on the the physical design of telecommunications systems (semiconductor physics, electronics, electromagnetism, microwave and RF radio-frequency circuits, antennas, propagation and support technologies).
The Microwave department is mainly involved in teaching Physics (Electromagnetism) and Electronics (Analog LF and HF) to all IMT Atlantique engineering students, whatever their final specializations, and in both the traditional engineering program (FISE) and the engineering course for apprentice-students (FIP) specialising in computing, networks and telecommunications.
Common core course in 1st year (FISE)
Focuses:
- Electromagnetic Propagation
- Radiation and energy transfer
- Transmission of information
- « Learn by doing » Project
Common core course by apprenticeship in 1st and 2nd year (FIP)
- Analog electronics (LF and HF)
- Electromagnetism and propagation
- Functional analysis
- Introduction to Matlab
Thematic areas - 2nd year (FISE) and 3rd year (FISE and FIP)
The Microwave Department is mainly involved in the following in-depth study themes (TAF), related to the thematic areas of robotics, electronics, automation, telecommunications, embedded systems and healthcare:
- Communication Systems Engineering
- Observation and Perception of the Environment
- Health
- Design of Connected Objects
