Policy statements
- IMT Atlantique is an institution that is part of the Ministry of Industry, our academics are responsible for teaching, research and technology transfer missions. Moreover, IMT Atlantique follows the research code and the framework given by the national ethics committee, and our researchers are free of the content of their work and their teaching in this specific context.
- Lecturer and researchers enjoy full independence (teaching freedom and research freedom) and complete freedom of expression in the exercise of their teaching functions and their research activities, subject to the reservations imposed on them, in accordance with institution traditions in particular because IMT Atlantique is part of the Ministry of Industry and the provisions of the official National "code de l'Education", the principles of tolerance and objectivity. IMT Atlantique reminds researchers that the collective dimension in research work is extremely important.
- Academic freedom is the guarantee of the excellence of French higher education and research. They are exercised in accordance with the constitutional principle of the independence of Lecturers and Researchers.
- IMT Atlantique follow the recommendations of the SENAT, the recommendations of the information mission: Better protect our scientific heritage and our academic freedms:
- Raise the subject of foreign interference to the rank of political priority to take stock of the situation and co-construct suitable responses with the academic world
- Help universities protect their values of academic freedom and scientific integrity while respecting their autonomy
- Establish transparency and reciprocity at the national level as cardinal principles of all international university cooperation
- Strengthen administrative procedures intended to control partnerships entered into by higher education and research establishments
- Promote at national, European and international level the adoption of a repository of standards and guidelines
- IMT Atlantique relies on the work of the CNRS ethics committee on scientific freedom and responsibility:
The freedom and responsibility of researchers covers many aspects. The freedom relates to the right to be informed and to inform oneself, to be protected against all reprisals, the right to choose one's research subjects and to complete them in the context of a control accepted by the scientific community. Like all freedom, it must be weighed against the responsibilities imposed by the exercise of research and its potential repercussions.
