SDG 17: partnership for the goals

IMT Atlantique participates in strengthening the coherence of sustainable development policies, in strengthening the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development, associated with multi-stakeholder partnerships making it possible to mobilize and share knowledge, specialized knowledge and technologies through research projects and various actions.


I. Partnership in studies for the goals

I.1 SDG training policy

IMT Atlantique has put in place a policy to express IMT Atlantique’s commitment to training all its students to sustainable development.

I.2 Teaching unit and student projects

This module, for ALL students consists of a discovery of environmental and societal issues, of the 17 sustainable development goals defined by the UN.

I.3 Erasmus Mundus in Management and Engineering of Environment and Energy

II. Partnership in research for the goals

II.1 My Smart Life

IMT Atlantique is in charge of a very large EU research project with 28 partners named «My Smart Life», intended to bring out the technological solutions on which the smart cities of tomorrow will be based. In this project, the history, collection and management of urban data is carried out with the aim of forecasting future needs and developing a Data Lab on energy.

II.2 Expertise to Japan

Expertise to Japan on the Post Fukushima with many international researchers, the first actions are to collaborate on gathering and measuring data in order to improve the land and the life.

II.3 Chaire ANR AI OCEANIX

IMT Atlantique participate in international collaboration on gathering and analysing data on oceans : our research aims to better understand the dynamics of the oceans and to acquire effective monitoring and surveillance tools to respond to issues such as the impact of extreme climate events.

II.4 European INNOSID project

IMT Atlantique is a stakeholder for France in the European INNOSID project with five universities (Dubrovnik-Croatia, Debrecen-Hungary, Valence-Spain, Santarem-Portugal) and an NGO from Zagreb (Croatia). This European project aims to improve the social inclusion of people with disabilities by designing and developing free Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) aimed at enabling communication.

II.5 The EASTEM project: Euro-Asia Collaboration for Enhancing STEM Education

The EASTEM 2019-2021 project "Euro-Asia Collaboration for Enhancing STEM Education" , focuses on "Capacity Building" with Universities in South East Asia on STEM. This project involves IMT Atlantique in the European and ASEAN ecosystem for higher STEM & engineering education. one aim is to Improve the employability of graduates with regard to Industry of the future and 4.0, by reinforcing the interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary character of STEM training.

III. Others partnerships for the goals

III.1 Participation to the "Grand Baromètre"

 IMT Atlantique has a direct involvement in the national government SDG policy through its participation to the "Grand Baromètre". The National Grand Barometer surveys higher education establishments on 6 major themes broken down into several questions: strategy and governance, training, professional opportunities, research activities, community life and sustainable campuses.

 

III.2 Research Commission of the Conference of the "Grandes écoles" (Engineering institutes)

Ms. Beauval, vice president of IMT Atlantique is president of the Research Commission of the Conference of the "Grandes écoles" (Engineering institutes) and participated in the development of a report on behalf of the Committee on Cultural Affairs and Education on the research programming for the years 2021 to 2030, registered in national assembly level.

III.3 College of Societal Transitions

Collège des transitions sociétalesCreation of the College of Societal Transitions, a member of the national network of Colleges for Higher Studies in Sustainable Development (CHEDD).It is a think & do tank: a training platform for decision-makers, conference-debates open to as many people as possible, research-actions and experiments on societal transitions to be initiated: to promote, in institutional, socio-economic, associative circles and more broadly within civil society, a shared culture on societal issues as well as to encourage the engagement of transitional actions. The College of Societal Transitions has offered 8 conférences in 2020 open to all, including alumni, local residents and of course open to  displaced people, for free in order to outreach a shared culture on SDGs  but also and above all to encourage the engagement of transitional actions.
