Objectives of the programme

  • To study the systems aspects of satellite communications systems, with an emphasis on the environment, and the constraints and technologies which influence their performance
  • To broaden the skills involved in aeronautical and space applications:
    • digital communications
    • signal processing
    • networks

Teaching procedures

  • Classes are taught in English;
  • Lectures, research units, practical and experimental work, online corrected exercises, teamwork, simulations on MATLAB, OMNET++, specific software
  • Seminars, lab demonstrations, experiments with connections, navigation receivers (Sat Nav...)
  • Long-term projects, writing synthesis reports

Career opportunities

The Master of Space-based Communications Systems prepares graduates as development and system design engineers. They are responsible for monitoring and directing projects related to space-based communications and navigational systems.

This training programme is sought out by:

  • large corporate groups in electronics and telecommunications in France and abroad (Thales Alenia Space, Airbus Defense & Space, Thales, Safran, ST Micro…)
  • communications operators (EUTELSAT, European satellite company, Telespazio, Hispasat…), research centres and agencies (CNES, DSNA, DLR, ESA…)
  • SMBs and service companies (M3Systems, Altran, France Développement Conseil…)

Applicant profile

  • Qualifications required: Master's degree or international equivalent
  • Course open to applicants with:
    • an engineering degree
    • a master's degree
    • a graduate degree or equivalent qualification
    • a Master of Science with at least three years' professional experience (by special permission)
  • Admission by written application and an interview
