Abstract : Nuclear power helps combat climate change thanks to its low carbon emissions, but nuclear waste continues to cause concern. Low-level wastes such as 316 stainless steel and nickel alloys pose problems. This study refines chemical oxidation-reduction (CORD) decontamination. Surrogate samples are tested with different concentrations of CORD to assess oxide dissolution and optimize the process. Efficiency, process parameters and environmental impact are systematically evaluated, with priority given to volume and cycle time reduction for cost-effective and environmentally-friendly nuclear practices. The effectiveness of the method is evident in successful applications to 304 stainless steel and Ni 600 radioactive alloy, even at reduced volumes. It is essential to focus on shorter cycles and higher frequency, particularly for nickel alloys. This thesis paves the way for systematic optimization for safer and greener nuclear practices, improving efficiency and potential benefits.
