34 Australian students from partner universities in Flinders, Adelaide, Queensland, South Australia (UniSA) and the University of Sydney Technology (UTS) who are participating in the Wasaa Academy Winter School from 13th to 31st January have arrived in Brittany to follow this original programme of studies and discoveries around the shipbuilding industry.
The "Wasaa" Consortium, short for "Western Alliance for Scientific Actions with Australia", brings together 6 Breton higher education institutions, ENSTA Bretagne, ÉNIB, UBO, École Navale, IMT Atlantique and UBS, driving forces to strengthen links between the region of Brittany and South Australia.
Before participating in the opening ceremony of the programme at UBO, the 34 students in this 2nd edition of the "Wasaa Academy" were welcomed at IMT Atlantique, where most of their courses will take place, taught by professors from all the partner institutions.
The three weeks of the "Wasaa Academy" will continue with visits to companies and partner schools such as Thalès, Naval Group and the Ecole Navale. Students will benefit from courses in specialities such as "Human factors", "Communication Systems", "Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality" and "Artificial Intelligence and Robotics" and French. They will carry out group projects related to their speciality and will also benefit from numerous social and cultural activities with other students on campus.
This Wasaa program is a unique opportunity for Australian students to discover French and Breton culture, as well as becoming familiar with our maritime region's naval training.
