IMT Atlantique hosts five Australian universities.

IMT Atlantique received several representatives from Australian universities this academic year, further evidence of the strength of its relationship with Australia.

Professor David Lloyd, Vice Chancellor and President, University of South Australia, Professor Anton Middelberg, Executive Dean, Faculty of Engineering Computer & Math Sciences, University of Adelaide, and Dr Paul Maddison, Director, UNSW Defence Research Institute, The University of New South Wales visited IMT Atlantique's Brest and Nantes campuses as part of prospecting missions.


Also in September,  Flinders University and Australian National University came to discover our laboratories (Atol, Experiment'haal, Virtual Reality and Companion Robot, Deseasion),as well as the automation, production and computing, and energy and environment system departments at IMT Atlantique.

Strengthening cooperation

During these various visits,cooperation agreements were signed for the implementation of co-supervised theses and axes for strengthening cooperation in the fields of cybersecurity, the industry of the future and artificial intelligence were clearly defined. Building on its ten year history, IMT Atlantique's relations with Australia will continue to develop in the coming months, as will the various tools facilitated by international relations can offer - a joint international unit, a joint Franco-Australian laboratory, a Franco-Australian chair, and a joint master's degree.
 


The universities have already reiterated their commitment to the Wasaa Academy (Western Alliance for Scientific Actions with Australia) programme, thanks to which some 40 young Australian students will be trained annually in recent advances in information technologies (artificial intelligence, virtual reality, robotics, cybersecurity, etc.) The second edition of this programme will be held in January 2020.

Professor Anton Middleberg, executive dean of the faculty of engineering, computer and mathematical sciences, University of Adelaide and Anne Beauval, vice-president of IMT Atlantique signed an agreement paving the way for stronger ties and joint PhDs.
