On Friday, December 3rd at 10:30 am, Anne Beauval, IMT Atlantique's vice-president, laid the foundation stone of a new student accommodation building on the Brest campus. This symbolic gesture marked the launch of the first phase of renovation and construction work which will last until 2025.

"This housing program is in line with the increase in the number of students and doctoral students at IMT Atlantique (+20% to +40%, depending on the program, for 2022 compared to 2021). It is the result of a balanced decision between quantitative and qualitative objectives in enhancing student services", emphasizes Antoine Sadoux, Secretary General of IMT Atlantique.
The MAISEL association currently operates 559 housing units spread over 12 buildings on the IMT Atlantique campus in Brest (located in the commune of Plouzané). Eventually, it will have 2 more buildings to manage as well as the renovated accommodation of 6 buildings. In addition to an extension, all the single rooms offered among the various accommodation solutions will be transformed into studio accommodation.
These renovations are supervised by Patrick Rubin of Canal Atelier d'Architecture. The €12m project is supported by Brest Métropole, the Regional Council of Brittany, the Institut Mines-Télécom and IMT Atlantique.
The laying of the foundation stone of the MAISEL was attended by Hubert Bruzac, vice-president of Brest Metropole - Higher Education, Research and Innovation, Yves Du Buit, the mayor of Plouzané and François Cuillandre, the mayor of Brest.
IMT Atlantique also plans to renovate buildings on its Nantes campus as part of the 2022-2027 CPER.
