IMT Atlantique is an institute of higher education and research, born through the fusion of École des Mines Nantes and Telecom Bretagne in January 2017. Research and innovation constitute one of the university's primary missions in its fields of excellence which are digital technology, and energy and environment. The institute is authorised to deliver the PhD diploma.
Research is carried out in one of our six research laboratories linked to national research organisations (CNRS - French National Centre for Scientific Research and Inserm - French National Institute of Health and Medical Research), and is managed internally by 13 teaching and research departments. With over 800 publications per year (including 400 top tier), approximately 90 researchers and lecturers authorised to supervise research, and on average 80 theses presented each year, IMT Atlantique is ranked among the top ten engineering universities in France, when it comes to research.
IMT Atlantique is labelled Carnot for the quality of its partnership research, as part of the Carnot Telecom & Société Numérique (TSN) and the Carnot M.I.N.E.S. (Innovative Methods for Business and Society).
IMT Atlantique is a member of the TSN (Telecommunications and Digital Society) and M.I.N.E.S. Carnot Institutes (Innovative Methods for Business and Society). We are also strongly involved in competitive research hubs and institutes in the Brittany and Pays de la Loire Regions. Our research is also carried out through industrial and academic chairs, as well as joint laboratories, laboratories of excellence (Labex) and Scientific Interest Groups (SIG). We are involved in Equipment of Excellence (Equipex) and research and technology transfer platforms enabling experimentation and proof of concept.
IMT Atlantique is internationally recognised for its excellence in research, which has enabled us to develop a network of academic and industrial partners. This recognition can be seen through the prestigious prizes and distinctions frequently awarded to researchers or teams from IMT Atlantique.
