Salary and financial conditions

As recruited doctoral candidate under the SEED Co-fund programme you will receive:

  • A monthly gross rémunération of 2525€ (which includes social security contributions, taxes and other costs or compulsory deductions under national legislation), corresponding to an employer's cost of 3700€ and an approximative net salary of 2000€ / month.
  • A mandatory mobility allowance of 70€ per month dedicated to cover additional, private mobility-related costs (e.g. travel and accommodation costs) for a total amount of 2520€ 
  • A family allowance of 130€ per month only if you have or you acquire family obligations during the action duration, i.e. persons linked to him/her by (i) marriage, or (ii) a relationship with equivalent status to a marriage recognised by the legislation of the country or region where this relationship was formalised; or (iii) dependent children who are actually being maintained by the researcher.

These allowances are paid directly to you.

Please note that a request for MSCA Special Needs Allowance will be made by IMT Atlantique recruiting a researcher with disabilities. The allowance will cover the additional costs that the recruited doctoral candidate with disabilities face due to the increased costs of his/her mobility.

The programme also provides you with an additional allowance of 18 000€ to cover all expenses needed to carrying out your thesis work contributing directly to your career development (e.g. participation in conferences, trips related to work on the action, seminars, lab material, books, library records, publication costs), research expenses, visa-related fees and travel expenses, secondment(s), consumables, etc. This allowance is not paid directly to you but managed by the Project Management Board and made available to you when needed.

The project management Board will also support and cover additional actions of communication and organization of events to increase the visibility of your works (such as workshops or MSCA open doors).

Benefit from exposure to the academic and non-academic sector

During the thesis, you will be offered a mandatory international mobility and exposure(s) to academic and/ or non-academic fields for a total duration of mobility of 6 to 12 months, so as to (1) help you in developing your network of research and/or links with industrial peers, (2) to accommodate you with industry-related concerns and constraints, (3) to develop cross-disciplinary academic skills.

Employment conditions

You will be hired for a 36-month temporary research work contract by IMT, in accordance with the French labour legislation in force, with advantageous health and safety conditions as well as full social security. You will be employed full-time, working 37 hours per week, with 25 days per year for annual leave. You will benefit from similar employment conditions and entitlements as permanent researchers regarding working hours, paid annual leave, health care coverage, maternity/paternity leave, pension and unemployment insurance.  You will be enrolled in one of the doctoral schools of IMT Atlantique or linked with IMT Atlantique. You will be exempt from tuition fees.

IMT Atlantique support and available services/facilities

With 60% of international doctoral students registered today at IMT Atlantique, we have developed tools, support and facilities which will be fully made available to you. 

You will be fully integrated into research group. You will be offered with all the services necessary for your integration (badge, computer account, access to catering services, etc.). You will attend group meetings and receive inputs and advices from your new colleagues. We will provide you with, "the student’s handbook - Prepare your study in France" containing various information that may help you with your installation process such as visa application process and addresses, travel information, national health insurance process, how to find an accommodation, important administrative issues to be accomplished at arrival, etc. You will be assigned with an international buddy, already onsite and having crossed all the steps needed for your installation. You will have the possibility to benefit from the Euraxess centres/services contractually linked with IMT Atlantique and located in Brest, Nantes and Rennes, which offer support and guidance in installation (access to the culture of the host country/language courses, accommodation, banking, day care, schooling & family related issues, entry conditions/visas, health insurance, medical care, taxation/salaries, unemployment, work permit, etc.). IMT Atlantique also offers various housing possibilities for students in our 3 main campuses (Student House).
