AIDOaRt

AI-augmented automation for efficient DevOps, a model-based framework for continuous development At RunTime in cyber-physical systems
Horizon 2020
Approval no 101007350
Start: 2021
End: 2024

The major objective of the AIDOaRt project is to provide a model-based framework to more efficiently support the continuous software and system engineering of large and complex Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) via AI-augmentation.

Nowadays, modern systems in the domains of Industry 4.0, health care, autonomously driving cars or smart grids are examples of highly communicating (mostly embedded) systems where software enables increasingly advanced functionality. The growing complexity of these large and complex CPSs poses several challenges throughout all system design, development and analysis phases, but also during their deployment, actual usage and future maintenance. We are convinced that the integration of AI techniques can significantly affect and improve the whole development process.

In particular, AIDOaRt targets the support for requirements, monitoring, modeling, coding and testing activities as part of a continuous development (DevOps) in CPSs via AI-augmented automation (AIOps). To this end, AIDOaRt proposes the use of Model Driven Engineering (MDE) principles and techniques to provide a model-based framework offering proper methods and related tooling. This framework will notably enable the observation and analysis of collected data from both runtime and design time in order to provide dedicated AI-augmented solutions that will then be validated in concrete industrial cases involving complex CPSs.

Expected outcomes

  • Increasing productivity, reducing development costs and time-to-market ;
  • Improving the competitiveness of European industries by moving innovations into products, services and markets ;
  • Secure the access to any innovative software and hardware technology enabling the efficient engineering process of large and complex CPSoS ;
  • Driving the growth of safety & security revenues in the European market re-enforcing the European companies’ position and market share ;
  • Simplify the development of systems and applications at the edge of the network, and guarantee their quality while reducing the skill level required to the developer.
