Sustainable Development and Social Responsibility

Texte

IMT Atlantique has established six strategic orientations and equipped itself with a Sustainable Development and Social Responsibility Policy, which places sustainable development and social responsibility at the heart of its strategy.
The School's sustainable development and social responsibility practices may be grouped into five domains. The actions implemented cover all of these domains. Some examples include:

Domain 1 - Strategy and governance

  • The expression of sustainable development and social responsibility commitments in the annual appraisals of members of the Executive Board

Domain 2 - Teaching and training

  • A compulsory unit on sustainable development for first year engineering students (80 hours)

Domain 3 - Research

  • A large number of research projects concerning energy, the environment and health

Domain 4 - Environment management

  • Landscape conversion and intelligent management of gardens
  • Responsible nutrition in institutional catering

Domain 5 - Social policy and territorial anchorage

  • A focus on quality of life on our campuses
  • A partnership-based programme of energy and societal transition

The school's sustainable development and social responsibility practices are self-audited annually, on the basis of a national frame of reference.
The two original schools which make up IMT Atlantique - Mines Nantes and Télécom Bretagne - both received national sustainable development and social responsibility certification in 2016 for a period of four years (*). This national certification is granted to higher education and research institutions by application and audit. In late 2018, IMT Atlantique will file a renewal application for this certification in respect of the new school.

Finally, the School belongs to those higher education institutions which committed to the COP 21 through signing the Open Letter to COP21 Ministers and Governments.
