Master of Science in Engineering "Diplôme d'Ingénieur" - Ecological and social transformation

Ecological and social transformation

As part of the Sustainable Development and Social Responsibility teaching (SD&SR) unit, 1st year students are required to :

  • learn about the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals
  • understand the mechanisms of climate change
  • question the notion of commitment
  • consider a concrete technological project from an SD&SR perspective

Engineers today operate in an environment where the range of constraints in which they practice their art has broadened considerably. In addition to technical, economic and organisational constraints, they must take into account environmental and social constraints. Decisions must be made based on a systemic analysis of situations/problems with a view to the world of tomorrow.

It is essential today to question the life cycle, pollution generated, the manufacturing process of the components used, the conditions of extraction of raw materials, etc.
This UE teaching unit is a pedagogical space in which engineering students are confronted with learning situations in which they are expected to make a personal commitment and a reflexive analysis of the impact of their actions. They will also take on board the methodological aspects and SD&RS tools applicable to engineering positions.
