MSc in SAfe and REliable Nuclear Applications (SARENA) - Track

The 1st semester is taught at IMT Atlantique in Nantes - France with a focus on basic knowledge in the domains of radioactivity, ionizing radiation/matter interaction, radioprotection and management. These courses will be taught by IMT nuclear physicists and management and social scientists, though, in addition, some courses will also be taught by professors from UPM.

The 2nd semester takes place at the Politécnica Universidad de Madrid with a special focus on environmental impact, nuclear safety, risk analysis and energy security.

The 3rd semester is also taught at IMT Atlantique in Nantes. There, students will deepen their knowledge in decommissioning and waste management in their different aspects, taking into account technical, geological, environmental and safety constraints.

The 4th semester is an industrial or research oriented semester and will take place wherever the internship takes place.

Upon successful completion of the programme, a student is expected to be awarded a dual-degree from IMT Atlantique and Politécnica Universidad de Madrid.
