Shanghai's thematic classification by disciplines designates the best institutions in the world in 54 sectors according to research criteria. ITM Atlantic makes a breakthrough in Physics in the 2018 edition published on July 17.
Shanghai's ranking is based on a sample of more than 4,000 universities worldwide, assessed on the basis of the number of research papers published or cited in academic publications, and the number of Nobel Prizes (or Fields Medals for Mathematics) practising or having practiced in the institutions.
France, which was not represented at the top of the podium last year, is climbing there in 2018. And IMT Atlantic is ranked in 4 scientific fields: Electrical & Electronical Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering and therefore Physics since this year.
