MSc in SAfe and REliable Nuclear Applications (SARENA) - Objectives

The Nuclear Reactor Operation and Safety track exposes engineers to a field of highly complex projects where technical and organizational expertise are mandatory. To navigate through these intricacies, this programme’s objectives for its students are:

  • To acquire basic knowledge of nuclear energy production and industrial applications, e.g. accelerators, cyclotrons, etc.
  • To develop skills useful in reactor operation, reactor maintenance, and safety issues including radioprotection.
  • To develop skills in nuclear modelling necessary for demonstrating the behaviour of nuclear systems in normal and anormal situations.
  • To develop skills in nuclear radiation applications: instrumentation, non-destructive control, security, etc.
  • To acquire the awareness to take into account societal issues related to nuclear energy production.
  • To get opportunities to build contacts with a large number of international key players in the field.
