%X In this work, we set the bases of the integration of ambient intelligence (AmI) with mobile robot teams (MRT), aiming to enhance ambient assisted living services addressing a variety of tasks. We argue that people with reduced mobility can benefit from a synergy between AmI and MRT in various aspects. Towards this direction, we identify principal function-alities such an integrated system should provide in connection to relevant previous works and the way by which synergy could be accomplished, from low-level behavioural to higher-level task planning of a multi-layered system architecture.

%X We present our team IHSEV, and our preliminary studies to tackle the question of interoperability of devices and robots for smart homes. We propose a framework enabling the seamless communication between smart home devices and robots. Our framework relies primarily on the xAAL protocol, which allows any device from any type to be plugged into a smart house network. We have recently extended xAAL to allow any ROS-compatible robot to be integrated into the smart house network. We illustrate the relevance of this framework in an implemented use case: assistance of an elderly person in the case of a fall

%X Risks factor leading to type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular diseases can be reduced by a preventive care infrastructure able to modify the habits toward healthier lifestyles, including more exercise, a better diet and a reduced stress. Accessing the home space is important not only to monitor indoor environment quality (IEQ) but also to provide relevant user's feedback and engage users towards a healthy life style. This paper present a new preventive care infrastructure composed of a distributed infrastructure for heterogeneous devices in the home local area network (named xAAL) in conjunction with a machine to machine protocol (MQTT) to external health & well-being services. Finally, end-user tests were performed in the Experiment'HAAL living lab in order to test sensors and feedbacks.

%X The present paper focuses on the quantitative and qualitative performance analysis of Network Mobility (NEMO). It compares the original NEMO architecture with an architecture in which NEMO is enhanced with Multi-Path TCP (MPTCP). This quantitative and qualitative analysis is done by plotting theoretical and experimental results using a local testbed implementation. It is shown that the novel combination of NEMO and MPTCP performs significantly better, in terms of routing efficiency and of throughput, compared to a classical implementation of NEMO.

%X The emergence of Internet of Things (IoT) and smart-home systems allows us to combine devices from different domains and to explore new usages and services. Unfortunately interoperability between devices from different technologies is a major issue to overcome before being able to offer smart services. For this purpose we have proposed the xAAL system. It is both a federating home-automation protocol and an open infrastructure designed to address issues caused by the heterogeneity of existing home-automation solutions. xAAL has been implemented, deployed and has proved its efficiency. However, early versions have been designed with functional concerns in mind. The time has come to address security. xAAL has its own specificities: a distributed system, multicast communications on a bus, etc. This paper details choices, compromises and motivations for selecting security elements that have been introduced in the new version of xAAL.

Accessing the home space is important not only to monitor indoor environment quality (IEQ) but also to provide relevant user's feedback and engage users towards a healthy life style. This paper present a new preventive care infrastructure composed of a distributed infrastructure for heterogeneous devices in the home local area network (named xAAL) in conjunction with a machine to machine protocol (MQTT) to external health & well-being services.

%X This paper is focused on boosting network mobility Basic support protocol (NEMO) with the help of existing Multi-Path TCP (MPTCP). In this paper, the network mobility is studied in context of vehicles. The current NEMO relies on tunneling in order to use multiple available interfaces on a vehicle but does not reach the goal to provide optimum multi-homing benefits because it is unable to balance the traffic over available network interfaces. Moreover in NEMO, the nodes behind the mobile router cannot participate in multi-homing as the mobile router installed on the vehicle makes the mobility transparent to the nodes. In this paper, we propose to combine NEMO with MPTCP which enables the host nodes to participate in mobility and multi-homing and thus improving throughput, handover performance and avoiding excess tunneling.

%X In this paper, we propose a method to support seamless mobility for sessions carried by SIPTO connections. Session continuity has been considered an issue to be solved within 3GPP, as none of the solutions proposed for Mobile IP directly apply in the context of LTE. As in some cases, typically when SIPTO relies on using Local Gateways (LGW), it is necessary to change the IP address allocated to a User Equipment (UE), an active session may be interrupted. We propose an MPTCP based solution within the LTE architecture to maintain a single session, initially carried over a given SIPTO connection, and then carried over another SIPTO connection initiated due to the mobility of user equipment (UE). We identify how MPTCP operates over the LTE architecture, and estimate whether the corresponding delay is compatible with session continuity.

%X Ambient assisted living systems are based on sensors and actuators, with a diversity of network protocols and vendors. This commonly leads to the introduction of gateways or middlewares into the technical infrastructure in order to address interoperability issues. The xAAL framework presented in this paper aims to provide interoperability and to redesign such "gateways" into well-defined functional entities communicating with each other via a lightweight message bus over IP. Each entity may have multiple instances, may be shared between several boxes, and may be physically located in any box. Thanks to the distributed architecture of the system, each home automation vendor may peacefully provide its own xAAL box without revealing details of its technology. Also, several applications may be plugged together on the xAAL bus without getting bored with underlying heterogeneity. Moreover, the management of the dynamicity allows sensors or applications to enter and leave the system at any time.
