    Biographie

John Puentes holds a Master’s degree of Image Processing and Artificial Intelligence. He also holds a PhD in Signal Processing and Telecommunications, and the HDR, French Habilitation to Supervise Research. He worked as engineer, consultant, and project manager for international biomedical and telecommunications companies, before moving to the Image and Information Processing Department at IMT Atlantique, where he is Full Professor and Associate Researcher at the National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS), after being Associate researcher at the French Institute of Health and Medical Research (INSERM) for several years.

His research interests span a wide range of topics in applied artificial intelligence, machine learning, and quality analysis. In particular, his current research focuses on quality analysis for the security of cyber-physical systems, the evaluation of hydrographic surveys, and anomaly propagation; deep learning for Alzheimer regional analysis and disease classification; machine learning to differentiate dystrophic and healthy muscle on endogenous fluorescence images; and image segmentation of fibrous medium for air filtration.

Dr. Puentes is responsible for the Transverse Program in Artificial Intelligence of the Lab-STICC (Laboratory of Information, Communication, and Knowledge Sciences and Techniques) UMR CNRS 6285. He was previously co-responsible of the DECIDE (DECision aId and knowleDge discovEry) research team and responsible of the Master of Science in Information Technology.
