"My IMT Atlantique experience has broadened my perspective on not just my specialty but on life itself and has given me a strong technical foundation to be successful in my career."
Choosing IMT Atlantique as the graduate school to realise my dreams as a Telecom and Networks Engineer specialised in the Internet of Things is definitely one of the best decisions I ever made. During my search for an MSc program, the IT program in Architecture and Engineering for the Internet of Things (AEIOT) with its course structure got my attention and looked like what I wanted to do. But coming from the Anglophone part of Cameroon with little knowledge about the French language, I was a little skeptical and scared of coming to France. Once I arrived, I felt at home and I soon realised there was nothing to worry about. The administration had everything organised, guiding and providing me with all the information I needed. The first semester of our program in English while we took French classes gave me a chance to get comfortable in the French language and prepared me for the coming semesters. Moreover, having many international students as classmates and participating in activities on campus widened my cultural awareness and social skills.
To top all these, we had great teachers whose courses helped me to reinforce my knowledge on cutting-edge information technology allowing me to discover the prospects and incredible impact my field can have on the world. This re-kindled my desire and passion to be an expert in the IoT domain. Several opportunities were provided throughout the year to work as a team, applying the skills we learnt practically on fun projects, research and company projects.
This thorough training, led my team to become the European finalist for Schneider Electric’s Go Green in the city challenge just after my first year in IMT, a scholarship award for my second year of studies and a problem of choice for where to do my final year internship.
Overall, my IMT Atlantique experience has broadened my perspective on not just my specialty but on life itself and has given me a strong technical foundation to be successful in my career.
