Indonesia student's testimony, Romy

Romy Ardianto from Bali, is student of the Master of Science program in Computer Science and Decision Systems at Telecom Bretagne (september 2015).

« I decided to study at TELECOM Bretagne because it is one of the best engineering schools and international research centers in France. My study here is a part of the capacity building program of the INDESO project. It is a collaborative project between France and Indonesia, whose mission is to protect our marine resources against illegal fishing and establish sustainable fisheries in Indonesia.
The Computer Science and Decision Systems program provides a perfect combination of both practical and theoretical courses. I learned more about the foundations of computer science as well as high-level data science courses, such as statistics and data analysis, data mining, business intelligence, and decision support systems.

I did my final year graduate internship at the French company CLS, which is an affiliate of the French Space Agency (CNES) and Ifremer. The main objective of the internship is to estimate fishing efforts using high-resolution satellite imagery and satellite-based Vessel Monitoring System (VMS) and Automatic Identification System (AIS). This internship is intended to support the ‘fight against illegal fishing’ application of INDESO project, which is a national mission.

Finally, I would recommend the Master of Science program to anyone who wants to be a data scientist.
