Start of the school year 2015: 379 new students join Telecom Bretagne

Thursday, August 27, 46 new apprentice engineering students (FIP) arrived on the Brest campus. Sunday, August 30, the School hosted more than 120 people at the traditional “Welcome to families” afternoon organized by the department of Communication and Corporate Relations. The parents of new students were invited to a friendly meeting, followed by a tour of the campus.
Monday, August 31, the 155 general engineering students joined the others for the welcome speech from Paul Friedel. The new school year is officially underway!

Stable number of students
• In 2015-2016, Telecom Bretagne will have nearly 1200 students, with another forty new PhD students expected to arrive in early October;
• In the first year of general engineering training, the School has122 new students from the Mines-Ponts Concours commun and 26 students with university degrees;
• 123 students are enrolled in masters courses and 15 are enrolled in Master of Science (MSc);
• Female students represent 22% of all students, a figure which has been stable for some years.

Resolutely international
This year, Telecom Bretagne has 48% international students with 56 nationalities represented. After a “discovery” event on campus in August, international students are invited to a reception and an evening event organized for new international students by Brest Métropole.

Brest 2016: Telecom Bretagne at the Science Village
Researchers’ Night, Festival of Science … – The School annually participates in the different scientific events which take place in the Brest metropolis. Telecom Bretagne will also be present at the Brest Science Village 2016. As a member of the organizing committee, the School is currently preparing the event with the other participants.

New building for the incubator on the Rennes campus
The business incubator is a real motor for project development and has supported nearly 200 projects over the last ten years and has seen 600 net jobs created. A new building will be inaugurated in 2016 to increase its reception capacity. The incubator will offer an even greater opportunity for creative and innovative projects with institutes of Higher Education and Research.
