The sustainable development and social responsibility approach
Texte
IMT Atlantique has established six strategic orientations and equipped itself with a Sustainable Development and Social Responsibility Policy, which places sustainable development and social responsibility at the heart of its strategy.
The Sustainable Development and Social Responsibility Division
The Sustainable Development and Social Responsibility Division is associated with the office of the executive director of the university.
Its principal role is to motivate, support and facilitate transformations with respect to:
- the appropriation of environmental and social issues by university staff and students;
- ensuring the consistency of our practices in terms of governance, social policy and also the environmental management of our campuses;
- the development of our training and research programmes in response to environmental and societal issues;
- taking sustainable development and social responsibility into account in the higher education and research sectors in as a whole, and within the Institut Mines-Télécom in particular;
- involvement in societal transformation in our regions.
In practice, the Division is responsible for:
- defining and directing Sustainable Development and Social Responsibility practices;
- facilitation and internal rollout of Sustainable Development and Social Responsibility practices;
- participating in Sustainable Development and Social Responsibility training for students;
- participating in the Sustainable Development and Social Responsibility transition in our regions;
- making IMT Atlantique a nationally recognised player in Sustainable Development and Social Responsibility, in particular in the higher education and research sectors.
The university's sustainable development and social responsibility practices are self-audited annually, on the basis of a national frame of reference.
The two original universities which make up IMT Atlantique - Mines Nantes and Télécom Bretagne - both received national sustainable development and social responsibility certification in 2016 for a period of four years (*). This national certification is granted to higher education and research institutions by application and audit. In late 2018, IMT Atlantique will file a renewal application for this certification in respect of the new university.
Finally, the university belongs to those higher education institutions which committed to the COP 21 through signing the Open Letter to COP21 Ministers and Governments.
