IMT Atlantique congratulates Alain Aspect on his Nobel Prize in Physics

IMT Atlantique is delighted to announce that Professor Alain Aspect has been awarded the 2022 Nobel Prize in Physics. We had the pleasure of his company on 7 April.

On this occasion, we have decided to share with you the lecture "From Einstein's questions to qubits: the second quantum revolution" that he gave at the school during the inter-semester "Les 24h de la Physique Quantique".

Professor at the École Polytechnique, Emeritus Research Director at the CNRS, Professor at the Institut d'Optique Graduate School (Université Paris-Saclay) and affiliated Professor at the École normale supérieure Paris-Saclay, Alain Aspect is known for his experiments on light and atoms, which have revealed the most astonishing properties of the quantum world, from the wave-corpuscle duality to quantum entanglement. This work has already earned him major national and international prizes and election to several foreign academies.

The Royal Academy of Sciences today awarded him the supreme prize with the Nobel Prize in Physics, which he shares with the American John F. Clauser (J.F. Clauser & Assoc.) and the Austrian Anton Zeilinger, professor at the University of Vienna.
